Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation was established in 1990. Unipac combined its amorphous silicon and LCD technologies with UMC's IC production capabilities to build Taiwan's first TFT-LCD fabrication facility. Currently Unipac's main products are TFT-LCD modules ranging from 1.8 to 6.8 inches. New products were also introduced during 1998, including COG (chip on glass) type series and mini-notebook PC 6.1-inch LCD modules. Unipac's FAB II construction started by the end of 1997 and will produce large size TFT LCD modules for notebook PC and LCD monitor in 1999.
